Hi Everyone! And welcome to The Couch Investor
It occurred to me years ago that there must be some better way to retire. I didn’t want to be a part of the same old formula that so many of us get stuck in for our lives. Work and get paid. Stick your money into RSP’s and when you retire at 65, start withdrawing money from that RSP until it either runs out or you do.
If your money does run out before you die, hope that your kids (if you have any) have enough money to support you or let you move in with them.
This sort of lifestyle, while perfectly suited to some, did not make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Quite the opposite. It made me fearful that I wouldn’t make enough before I hit that age to be able to support myself into my golden years.
So I did what anyone else would do. I started reading. I picked up a book called The Lazy Investor by Derek Foster and it opened my eyes to new possibilities.
I already knew that you could make money in real estate. Or by buying stocks low and selling high. But I was fearful. Fearful of putting my hard earned money into what I thought was risky at the time. I knew real estate was stable but the idea of finding people to rent the property and making sure the property at least paid for itself was daunting.
After reading The Lazy Investor however, I started to look at things a little differently. No longer were stocks all that scary. I could buy into companies that were “recession-proof” and though they most likely would go down at some point, overall they’d continue to be worth more as time went by.
Since the book I have read and have started doing other things with my money that is earning me passive income. And that is why I’m here — to bring you along with me on my journey. I want to share with you what I’m doing and how I’m earning a solid monthly income by using the money I make at work and making it work for me. To never have to worry about an “RSP” when I retire because I’ll still have a steady stream of passive income.
So sit back, relax, bookmark this page as I’ll be adding content regularly and hopefully you too might be able to use what I discover over the years to help make passive income for yourself.
